Friday Cove is a planned residential development on a 6.9 acre site in Friday Harbor. The application process included coordination with the client, the client’s lawyers, a civil engineer, and the town land use administrator to develop site plans, the SEPA application, a vicinity map, and other legal documents for presentation at a public hearing, standard for all PRD applications. The public hearing included review before the general public, town council, and planning commission.

D+A Studio worked closely with the civil engineer on complex grading issues, balancing requirements of road width and slopes for the fire department, in addition to setbacks and lot lines for PRD requirements. The number of allowable units was maximized while preserving open space, including a 1 acre buffer with the University of Washington’s Friday Harbor Laboratories.
